Three weeks of training camp are coming to an end, and everything is starting to slow down. The 11n11 (11 Countries in 11 months) and the 3-month World Race teams left last Sundayish. We are getting more time with teams and squads, teams are the smaller group of 5 guys or gals and the squad is the full team of 36 people, and honestly, it’s been slow but in the best way possible. We are getting chances to grow closer together and actually building relationships you can only build when you have steady waters to walk on and trust. We haven’t been any less busy per se but we aren’t go go go—we are busy doing stuff with intention instead of just doing it to do it. I’m feeling closeness and what it truly means to follow god and to pick up the cross. I felt a new hunger for knowing Jesus that I have never felt and learned more about how God views me because of the slowness. I’m learning that We are not a slave to sin when we follow Christ that we have the free will to follow the path of life and that It is completely different from the path of Good and Evil. I’m learning, slowly, what it means to be focused on God. Have y’all thought of the Christian path of just not sinning because I always have and that is not what it is. I’m learning it’s a path of keeping your eyes completely off the world and the flesh. The path of life is a path where your focus is solely on God, then you will slowly change from just a path of Good or Evil and to a path of Life that God designed us to be on. When your eyes are focused on him you begin to move towards him slowly and when you focus on him you start letting him tear you down, so he can be built up. I’m learning that the “Freedom” our government was founded on and that we believe we have is not actual freedom. When we follow this false sense of freedom we are chasing something that is right there because you just have to surrender to it. True freedom is the freedom to rest and rejoice in the Lord; it is being free of having to worry about what to do with your life because you don’t have to worry about pleasing yourself because God will and will overflow if you let him.

I was going to talk about our two-mile hike but I’m just going to show you pictures stolen from my squadmates instead.
